India-Kyrgyzstan Foreign Office Consultations
Bishkek

1. Foreign Office Consultations with the Kyrgyz Republic were held in Bishkek on 28 April 2016. Ms. Sujata Mehta, Secretary (West), led the Indian delegation. H.E. Mr. Azamat Usenov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic headed the Kyrgyz side at the consultations.  Secretary (West) also met with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Kyrgyz Armed Forces Colonel Nurlan Chomoev;  Head of Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration H.E. Mr. Sapar Isakov and called on the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ms. Dinara Kemelova; during her visit.

2. India and Kyrgyzstan enjoy extremely close and friendly relations. In recent years, especially after the visit of His Excellency the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in July 2015, the relationship has diversified to newer areas of cooperation including defence, capacity building, health and education.

3. Both sides reviewed bilateral relations and expressed their commitment to enriching the bilateral partnership through enhanced political exchanges and regular consultations through their established institutional mechanisms.  The sides also discussed matters of regional and global importance including UN reforms, SCO, counter-terrorism as well as the regional scenario, including Afghanistan.
